Thread painting can be done with any sewing machine, and the results will transform your quilts, home dec projects, and garments. Leni didn’t invent thread painting, but she did make it easier. Most thread painters start with a blank piece of white fabric, onto which they draw or paint a design, and thread paint it in. This requires that every inch of the fabric be filled in—which is very time consuming.
With this book you will learn the easy way to thread paint—using computer printable fabric. No need to draw, paint or trace anything. And the good news is that you don’t need to fill in every inch with thread, a little thread work can go a long way!

Cotton poplin 8.5 x 11" sheets of fabric prepped to go through an inkjet printer.
The techniques in “Thread Painting” make use of computer printable fabric sheets. Lots of companies make them, but these are Leni’s favorites (and she has tested them all). Available in several package sizes so you can try them and compare for yourself.

There are many beautiful metallic and glitter threads available, but this starter pack includes the basics--one each--gold, silver, bronze and clear glitter (each spool is 500 yards).
Not available in any store, Leni has put together some of her favorite metallic and glitter threads in one pack for you to try. If purchased separately, these threads would cost a lot more.

Thread Painting Kits: |
Thread Painting Kits include one fabric printed image and matching threads to get you started. Add more colors on your own--these kits are designed to get you started creating your own unique work of art. Remember that the entire image does not need to be filled in with thread, you decide how much and where. Do as little or as much thread painting as you would like, have fun. You will need to add your own black thread, white thread, and bobbin threads to use each kit. |
